Mr. Wolf’s Class

Aron Nels Steinke is one of my favorite indie cartoonists. He started out drawing mini comics and tabling at indie comic shows like Stumptown and Short Run.

His first children’s book, The Super Crazy Cat Dance, led to a second, then an agent, and a series deal with Graphix, an imprint of Scholastic Books.

Mr. Wolf began as a webcomic and was self-published by Steinke in a series of mini comics. Now his classroom adventures are available in a new graphic novel, with a second due in February 2019.

Cover Preview

Prolific publisher Justin Marriott is working on an impressive queue of magazines for the balance of the year. He sent the full list to TDE which you can read about in the News Digest section of book eight, either by purchasing a copy or simply reading the preview pages available on amazon.

Late last week Justin sent a preview of the cover for Men of Violence No. 10, which will be released by the end of June. In the meantime, issues No. 4–9 are available now.

Cover Preview

Justin Marriott publishes a whole line of zines about paperbacks and series under his Paperback Fanatic banner. He shared news of what’s coming in the second half of the year for the News Digest section of the June 2018 edition of TDE, including a cover preview of The Sleazy Reader No. 8. A day or two after our deadline, he shared this great cover of Pulp Horror No. 7, with art by Rik Rawling of the mummy. The issue is coming this summer.
